Pat Flachbart

Pathways Pathways always seem to emerge within my pieces. If I’m in the “groove” I’m enjoying the journey I’m traveling during the creative process.
Exploration and experimentation are the guiding principles in Pat Flachbart’s life and work. Her journey through life has taken her from St. Louis, Missouri to Paris,France to Monterey County and the Sierra Foothills of California, all the way to Hickory, NC. Pat explores and experiments in oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, Raku pottery and handmade paper. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm with both her children and adult students. Pat describes herself as a “hands-in and hands-on”artist.
Every artist’s work is influenced by those they come in contact with. Every “trigger” prompts an idea and a concept is born.
A few years ago Pat and her husband moved to Hickory, NC. The backdrop of the Western Carolina Mountains and the country roads of the Piedmont have provided Pat with the inspiration for her recent art. A new environment lends itself to new attitudes and expressions in one’s work.
My work reflects my travels, my home, my love of nature and my interest in experimentation. I continuously attempt to explore new and innovating methods and materials – testing my patience and challenging what’s conventional. I’m proud to say: “I paint outside the lines.”.
